2022 Death of Johnstown Boy Ruled a Homicide

The death of seven-year-old Hunter DeGroat from Johnstown has been officially ruled a homicide, nearly three years after the tragic incident. According to WNYT, State Police have determined that DeGroat died from blunt force trauma to the back of his head. The young boy was found unresponsive in his home in 2022.

Prior to his death, multiple reports were filed with Fulton County Child Protective Services, indicating potential concerns for his welfare. Authorities have identified a person of interest in the case, though no arrests have been made yet.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office is involved in the case. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
