Red Cross Aids Four After North Greenbush Fire

The American Red Cross is assisting four people affected by a fire that broke out in North Greenbush on Sunday (February 23). The fire started at a townhouse on Stacey Way and quickly spread to adjacent units. It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to control the blaze, which involved eight fire departments, including the Defreestville and Wynantskill Fire Departments.

According to NEWS10 ABC, the fire began in unit 31 and spread to units 27 and 29, although it did not reach the attics. Unit 31 was declared a total loss, while the other units sustained damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is providing support to the displaced residents, helping them with immediate needs such as shelter and resources. The American Red Cross offers a range of disaster relief services, including financial assistance and emotional recovery resources, to help those affected by such incidents.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Rensselaer County Cause and Origin team and the North Greenbush Police Department. Updates on the investigation are expected as more information becomes available.
