The Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve in Vischer Ferry, New York, has reopened to the public after a temporary closure due to a coyote attack. The preserve was closed on Friday, February 14, following two separate encounters with an aggressive coyote, including an incident where a person was bitten while walking their dog. The individual received hospital treatment for rabies as a precaution.

According to News10, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has been patrolling the area since the incidents but has found no further signs of aggressive coyote activity. The town of Clifton Park, which manages the preserve, believes the coyote may have been in poor health, contributing to its aggressive behavior.

The preserve reopened on Saturday (February 23), and officials advised visitors to remain vigilant while enjoying the park. The town of Clifton Park expressed gratitude to the DEC and the Canal Corporation for their assistance in managing the situation, as reported by CBS6 Albany.

The town continues to encourage caution in all parks and nature preserves to ensure visitor safety.
