A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the homicide of Abel Vasques-Bautista in Albany. Fabian Martinez-Reyes, 20, was taken into custody on Long Island by the Albany Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. He is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree gang assault.
The incident occurred on June 3, 2024, when police responded to a call on Washington Avenue. They found a 25-year-old man with a stab wound and were informed of another victim nearby. Abel Vasques-Bautista, 24, was discovered with multiple stab wounds and later died at Albany Medical Center.
Martinez-Reyes is the third person charged in this case, following the arrests of Marco Reyes-Lopez and Javier Martinez-Reyes, who are reportedly his cousins. All three face murder and gang assault charges. Martinez-Reyes was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and is being held in Albany County Jail without bail.
According to the Times Union, the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the June 2024 homicide. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office is handling the case, which has drawn attention due to its violent nature and the involvement of multiple suspects.
