A five-alarm fire erupted at Treleckey Tire Services in Amsterdam late Sunday (March 2), causing significant damage but no injuries. The fire started around 10:45 p.m. and was visible from nearby streets and highways. Firefighters faced challenges due to cold temperatures and wind but managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread to tires and wood pellets stored on-site.

The fire destroyed several trucks belonging to Terleckey Brothers Trucking, a family business located at 1 Front Street, which also provides wood pellets and tire repairs. Amsterdam Fire Chief Anthony Agresta confirmed that the building, housed in an old train station, is not a total loss, thanks to the efforts of the fire crews.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with assistance from the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. According to WNYT, local officials, including Fifth Ward Alderman James Martuscello, have expressed support for the Terleckey family, known for their contributions to the community. Martuscello praised the firefighters' hard work and offered to assist the family in finding a new space if needed.

As reported by CBS 6 Albany, fire crews remain on site to stabilize the building and continue their investigation. The fire has drawn attention to the resilience of the community and the dedication of the Amsterdam Fire Department.
