Glens Falls police are investigating after a body was found in a burning clothing donation bin early Thursday (March 6) morning. Officers on patrol noticed the fire around 2:20 a.m. in the parking lot at 70 Hudson Avenue, near Talk of the Town Pizza. The Glens Falls Fire Department extinguished the blaze, revealing a deceased person inside the bin with fire-related injuries.
The identity of the individual has not yet been released, but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and any other injuries. Police have indicated that the incident is not connected to nearby businesses.
Investigators are also examining two 911 calls made on Wednesday (March 5) around 9:30 p.m. from Hudson Avenue and Broad Street, though it is unclear if these are related to the case. Authorities are urging anyone who was in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. to contact the Glens Falls Police Department at 518-761-3840.
According to NBC5, police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. The scene was cleared around 11 a.m. Thursday, as reported by WNYT. The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking any information that could assist in solving the case.
