Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins has released more information regarding the tragic death of 43-year-old Michelle McFarren, whose body was found in a burning clothes donation bin off Hudson Avenue. According to Mayor Collins, McFarren may have entered the bin seeking shelter from cold and rainy weather.

Officers on duty discovered the fire early Thursday morning (March 6) and, after extinguishing the flames, found McFarren's remains inside. A forensic autopsy confirmed that her death was fire-related. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.

McFarren, who was born in Bennington, Vermont, and lived in the Glens Falls area, is survived by her mother, three children, three grandchildren, and five siblings. Her obituary describes her as a vibrant and spirited individual who brought joy to those around her.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover funeral expenses. Mayor Collins expressed condolences to McFarren's family and highlighted the need for community support for those in distress. The clothing bin, owned by the American Clothing Recycling Company, has been removed for evidence as the investigation continues.
