A 13-year-old girl from Schenectady was arrested after allegedly posting a threat on TikTok about shooting up an unspecified school in the area. The threat, which was discovered on Tuesday night (March 11), prompted a swift response from local authorities. According to CBS 6 Albany, the Schenectady Police Department, alerted by the FBI, traced the threat's origin to a residence in Schenectady. Officers quickly identified the girl as the suspect and took her into custody. No weapons were found at the location.
The girl has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony offense. The Schenectady Police Department has been in communication with the City of Schenectady School District, ensuring that no other threats have been identified. Due to the girl's age, authorities have not released her name or any further identifying information.
This incident follows a similar case in February, where a 14-year-old Schenectady student was arrested for threatening a fellow student at Washington Irving School via Snapchat.
