An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a house fire in Colonie that resulted in the deaths of Carroll Debrocky, 76, and her son James Debrocky, 56. The fire occurred early Wednesday morning (March 26) at their home on Tanglewood Road near Cook Park. Emergency responders arrived around 12:30 a.m. and found the house engulfed in flames.
According to Times Union, firefighters were able to extract both victims from the home within 10 minutes, but despite receiving treatment at the scene, they succumbed to their injuries. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes, but the home sustained significant damage.
Colonie Fire Department Coordinator Michael Romano stated that the first responders quickly initiated a primary search upon arrival, locating and removing the victims through a rear window.
