New York State has launched a campaign to hire federal workers laid off by the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Governor Kathy Hochul's "You're Hired" initiative has already attracted over 1,300 applications and hired more than two dozen former federal employees. The state has more than 7,000 job openings across various fields, including engineering, healthcare, and technology.

Governor Hochul announced the expansion of the initiative with digital billboards in Washington, D.C.'s Union Station and New York's Moynihan Station. The campaign aims to attract talented public sector workers by highlighting the competitive benefits, salaries, and labor protections New York offers. The state is also providing free weekly career development webinars for laid-off federal workers.

Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of valuing public servants, stating, "When DOGE says 'You're fired,' New York is ready to say 'You're hired.'" The initiative is part of a broader effort to fill vacancies in New York's public workforce, which includes waiving civil service exam requirements and offering resources for job seekers.

The New York State Department of Labor is actively supporting displaced workers by offering unemployment insurance, career resources, and specialized programs for veterans. The state aims to provide stable employment and leverage the expertise of experienced federal workers to enhance government services.
