The final Maple Weekend of 2025 kicks off tomorrow (March 29) across New York State, offering a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the state's rich maple syrup tradition. New York, the second-largest producer of maple syrup in the United States, produces approximately 846,000 gallons annually. During this event, maple farms across the state will open their doors to the public, providing a chance to taste pure maple syrup directly from the source.

The New York State Maple Producers’ Association organizes the event, which is sponsored by both its members and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. Visitors can enjoy free tours and samples at most sites, with exceptions for museums. The event offers a chance to learn about New York's maple sugarmaking processes and traditions, as well as to taste maple syrup in its many forms.

Governor Kathy Hochul has declared March 22-23 and March 29-30 as the official Maple Weekends for 2025. She emphasized the importance of the maple industry to New York's agricultural economy and encouraged New Yorkers to support local producers by visiting sugarhouses. Governor Hochul stated, "New York State’s maple industry is not just a tradition – it’s a thriving community of dedicated producers creating world-class maple products."

For those interested in attending, a full list of participating farms and events is available at mapleweekend.nysmaple.com. Visitors are advised to dress appropriately for the weather, as many locations are rustic and can be muddy.
