The Albany County Legislature is now accepting applications for its 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program. This initiative offers high school and college students aged 17 to 21 in Albany County the chance to gain valuable work experience through internships. The program features flexible work opportunities, with a maximum of 20 hours per week and a minimum pay rate of $16 per hour.

Applications are open until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30. Interested candidates can find the application, interview, and orientation requirements, as well as a mandatory questionnaire, online at the Albany County website. Applicants under 18 must have their working papers ready. Applications and inquiries can be sent via email to summerintern@albanycountyny.gov, or mailed to the Albany County Legislature at the Harold L. Joyce Albany County Office Building.

Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham highlighted the program's significance, stating it provides students with a firsthand look at government operations and equips them with the experience needed to contribute to their communities. Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the program as a starting point for young people, especially those of color, to bring fresh ideas and drive change in Albany County.
