After nearly 40 years of service, Albany Park Ride and Fly, a popular parking facility near Albany International Airport, will close its doors on April 27. The business, located on Wolf Road in Colonie, has been a convenient option for travelers since it opened in 1988. Owner Phil Wertheim, who launched the business, cited the non-renewal of the lease as the reason for the closure.

Over the years, Albany Park Ride and Fly has parked approximately 750,000 vehicles. It offered a range of services, including a shuttle to the airport, luggage handling, and even car maintenance like oil changes and detailing. The business was particularly popular among seniors and repeat customers, who appreciated the reliable and secure service.

Wertheim, who previously owned the property, sold it during the pandemic due to uncertainties in air travel. The new owners, Denooyer Chevrolet, plan to expand their operations onto the property. Customers can still use the parking service until April 27, but they must retrieve their vehicles by midnight on that date.
