Donations are being sought to support the recovery of Lavender, a dog found in Schenectady with severe injuries. Lavender was discovered on March 28 with a cut-off ear, broken teeth, and malnourishment. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is caring for her and has released photos and videos to garner community support for her recovery.

Police have charged 31-year-old Basean Brooks with misdemeanor animal cruelty for allegedly abandoning Lavender while she was injured near McClellan Street and Eastern Parkway. According to CBS6 Albany, Brooks faces charges under the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking information on how Lavender sustained her injuries. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Schenectady Police Department. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society has set up a fundraiser to aid in Lavender's recovery, and donations can be made through their website.

Ashley Jeffrey Bouck, President and CEO of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, stated, "We’re asking our community to stand with us—by supporting Lavender’s healing and by helping us push for the strongest possible penalties for the people who did this."
