Construction has begun on the Springs West Apartments, a new affordable housing complex in Saratoga Springs. The project, announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, will feature 98 units spread across six buildings on Allen Drive. These homes are designated for households earning up to 80 percent of the Area Median Income, providing much-needed workforce housing for adults and families.

The $43 million development is a collaboration between Beacon Communities and the Saratoga Springs Housing Authority. The complex will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, all equipped with energy-efficient features like electric heating and cooling, thermal insulation, and LED lighting. Additional amenities include a playground, gym, community center, and laundry rooms in each building. Its location offers easy access to Interstate 87, schools, healthcare facilities, and retail establishments.

Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of the project, stating, "The new buildings and 98 new apartments at Springs West are a perfect example of my commitment to expanding the supply of affordable, safe, and modern homes across New York."

According to the Governor's office, the development is part of a broader initiative to create or preserve 100,000 affordable homes statewide.

The project is expected to be completed by late 2026, with leasing set to begin in the spring of that year.

As reported by NEWS10, the initiative aims to address the urgent need for low-cost housing in the region.
