Albany police have arrested Jose R. Martinez, a 22-year-old from Schenectady, in connection with the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 8) near Central Avenue and Quail Street. Officers responded to a call at a home on Kent Street at approximately 2:50 p.m. and found the teenager with a puncture wound to his back. He was treated on the scene and then transported to Albany Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
Martinez was identified as the suspect after police spotted him walking near Eagle Street and Elm Street shortly after the incident. He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Martinez was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday (April 9) and is currently held in Albany County Jail without bail.
The investigation revealed that the stabbing took place near Central Avenue and Quail Street, according to CBS 6 Albany. The case is ongoing as authorities continue to gather more information.
