The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) is alerting drivers about a long-term lane closure in Albany County. The Exit 7 ramp from Interstate 87 southbound to State Route 7 eastbound in Colonie is now reduced to a single lane due to a bridge repair project. This lane reduction will remain in effect until approximately September 1.
Motorists should anticipate significant delays and are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly. The DOT advises drivers to consider leaving earlier or seeking alternative routes to avoid congestion. According to NEWS10 ABC, the construction activities are weather-dependent, which means the timeline could change based on conditions.
For real-time updates and traffic information, drivers can visit the New York State DOT website or use the 511NY mobile app.
