Scotia Village Hall will remain closed until summer 2026 due to an extensive asbestos removal project and building renovations. During this period, key village offices have been relocated to temporary sites. The mayor's office is now situated at the new firehouse on Mohawk Avenue, while the Scotia Police Department has moved to a location near the Baptist Retirement Home on North Ballston Avenue. The Village Court is operating out of the Glenville Town Court.
The renovation project began in April with the installation of protective fencing around the building, followed by the start of asbestos removal. Renovations are expected to commence in early May. The village is working to minimize disruptions to pedestrian and traffic flow during the process.
Despite the temporary relocations, all phone numbers for village services will remain unchanged. The village has assured residents that there will be no disruption in police coverage during the move. Additionally, village board meetings and planning board meetings will continue as scheduled in the firehouse conference room.
The village encourages residents to remain patient during this transition period and has provided updates on the Village of Scotia's official website.
