The popular Alive at Five concert series in Albany will change venues for the 2025 season. Traditionally held at Jennings Landing, the series will now take place at both Liberty Park and Tricentennial Park. The move aims to encourage concertgoers to spend more time in downtown Albany after performances. The concert series will run from June 5 to July 17, with the lineup of artists to be announced later.

Tricentennial Park is currently undergoing a $1.25 million renovation, expected to be completed by mid-June. As a result, the first three concerts will be held at Liberty Park, according to the Times Union. Mayor Kathy Sheehan explained that the decision to relocate the concerts was made after discussions with local businesses and organizations like the Downtown Business Improvement District and Capitalize Albany.

The Alive at Five series, which began in 1990, has been a staple of summer entertainment in the Capital Region. The concerts, featuring a diverse lineup of national and local artists, are free to the public and take place every Thursday. The series aims to boost local business by drawing attendees to downtown Albany.

The relocation to Tricentennial Park is a trial, with the final decision on the series' permanent location to be made by the incoming mayor. The rain location will remain under the I-787 overpass at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch. Albany Events also notes that the event is produced with the help of community volunteers, and vendor applications are open until spaces fill up.
