The head of the Hoosick Falls Police Department, Officer in Charge John Hudson, has been placed on paid administrative leave. Hoosick Falls Mayor Dan Schuttig announced the decision on Facebook, stating that Hudson's leave is pending the outcome of an investigation. The mayor did not provide further details about the nature of the investigation but assured residents that the situation would be handled professionally in collaboration with the village's attorneys.
John Hudson assumed his role as officer in charge following the retirement of Chief Tim Colaneri about a year and a half ago. The village of Hoosick Falls, located in Rensselaer County, is known for its picturesque scenery and historical significance, once being home to the Walter A. Wood Mowing and Reaping Machinery Company.
The village has been actively involved in various community and environmental initiatives, including efforts to address PFAS water contamination. The outcome of the investigation into Hudson's conduct remains to be seen, and the village has not announced a timeline for its conclusion.
