Albany International Airport experienced record passenger volumes at its Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint in April. According to TSA officials, five of the top ten busiest days at the checkpoint occurred last month. The highest numbers were recorded on February 14 and 15, with 6,514 and 6,481 passengers, respectively.
Bart R. Johnson, TSA Federal Security Director for Albany International Airport, praised the officers for maintaining security and ensuring a smooth passenger experience during this busy period. As the summer travel season approaches, the TSA advises travelers to arrive at the airport two hours before their flight. Passengers should also ensure they have a Real ID-compliant license by Wednesday (May 7) and familiarize themselves with what items are allowed in carry-on luggage.
The TSA offers several resources, including apps and features, to help travelers navigate security procedures. The agency encourages enrollment in TSA PreCheck for expedited screening and recommends that travelers with medical conditions or disabilities contact the TSA 72 hours before their flight for assistance.
