The planned overnight construction at Latham Circle in Colonie will proceed tonight (Wednesday, May 7) after being delayed by weather. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that the roundabout at the intersection of State Route 2 and U.S. Route 9 will be closed from 10 PM to 5 AM for pavement repairs.

Motorists should expect delays and are advised to follow posted detour signs directing traffic onto State Route 155 (Watervliet Shaker Road), Interstate 87, and Delatour Road. The closure, originally scheduled for Tuesday (May 6), was postponed due to rain, according to CBS 6 Albany.

The repairs are necessary to maintain road safety and are weather-dependent, meaning further changes could occur if conditions worsen. Travelers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time during the closure. As reported by the Times Union, the roundabout is a key intersection, and the repairs aim to improve the driving experience for commuters.

The detour will help manage traffic flow while work is underway. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution and adhere to the detour routes to ensure a smooth transition during the construction period. The New York State DOT continues to monitor weather conditions closely to minimize disruptions and ensure the project proceeds safely and efficiently.
