The seasonal parking program in Saratoga Springs, New York, is set to begin on Monday (May 26) and will continue through Monday (September 1). During this period, parking in city-owned lots and garages will cost $2 per hour, with an overnight rate of $12 from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. On-street parking will remain free.
According to CBS6 Albany, permits are available on the city website, and taxpayers in the Saratoga Springs City School District can choose to pay monthly or for the entire season in advance. Monthly rates vary from $35 to $55, depending on the month, while a seasonal permit costs $100 if purchased in May or June.
Downtown business employees can obtain free permits through their employers, who must register their fleet with the city. The News10 ABC reports that the Saratoga Springs Public Library Lot on Putnam Street will offer three hours of free parking daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for library patrons with a permit.
City officials, including Public Safety Commissioner Tim Coll, expressed optimism about improving the program based on previous experiences. The program aims to balance the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors while generating revenue for city maintenance and improvements.
