The 2025 seasonal parking program in Saratoga Springs is now active, running from Memorial Day (May 26) through Labor Day (September 1). During this period, parking in city-owned lots and garages costs $2 per hour, with an overnight rate of $12 from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. On-street parking remains free.
Saratoga Springs residents can obtain free parking permits, available through the city's website or at City Hall. Those who registered in 2024 have been automatically renewed for 2025, needing only to update any changed vehicle information. New this year, residents of the Saratoga Springs City School District can purchase permits monthly or for the entire season at discounted rates, with monthly fees ranging from $35 to $55 and a seasonal permit costing $100 if bought in May or June.
Downtown workers can receive free permits through their employers, who must register their fleet with the city. The Saratoga Springs Public Library offers a separate free permit for patrons, allowing three hours of free parking in the library lot on Putnam Street from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
Despite some opposition, including concerns about the impact on downtown businesses, the program is expected to generate significant revenue for the city. Public Safety Commissioner Tim Coll expressed optimism about improving the program based on last year's experience, while DPW Commissioner Chuck Marshall, although opposed to paid parking, acknowledged its necessity for the city budget.
Permit holders are advised to adhere to parking restrictions to avoid tickets, with ticket forgiveness available for those eligible for permits. Outstanding parking tickets must be resolved before obtaining a permit. For more information, residents and employees can visit the city’s website or contact the Department of Public Works.
