The New York State Attorney General's Office has released body camera footage from a fatal officer-involved shooting in Malta. The incident, which occurred on April 9, involved 69-year-old David Levine at the State Police barracks on Route 9.
According to News10, the footage shows Levine exiting a pickup truck with a rifle and firing towards the building. Despite commands to drop his weapon, Levine allegedly aimed his gun at a trooper, prompting multiple officers to fire, resulting in Levine's death. No one inside the barracks was injured.
The Office of Special Investigation (OSI) is conducting an investigation into the incident, as they do with all cases where police action may have led to a person's death. The investigation remains ongoing, and the footage has been made public to ensure transparency. The Attorney General's Office released the video to provide insight into the events that transpired that day.
