Thousands are expected to gather in Downtown Albany for the Capital Pride Parade and Festival on Sunday (June 8). The event, organized by the Pride Center of the Capital Region, kicks off with a parade at 11:30 a.m. on State Street and continues at Washington Park. This celebration is one of the largest in the Northeast, outside of New York City and Boston.
The Pride Center, the oldest continuously operating LGBTQ Community Center in the country, is hosting the event to promote the well-being of LGBTQ individuals. The festival will feature international pop artists DEV and Mila Jam, alongside over 20 food vendors and a beer garden for attendees over 21.
According to the official event page, parade participants must check in by 10:00 a.m. at the Madison Ave/New Scotland entrance. Roads around Washington Park will close at 10:00 a.m., and parking will be restricted.
Festival-goers are encouraged to stay hydrated and use sunscreen. Pets should be leashed, and umbrellas should be no larger than a golf umbrella. For more information, visit 518capitalpride.com.
