Drivers in the Capital Region are experiencing a small decrease in gas prices, according to Triple A. The average cost for a gallon of regular fuel is now $3.10, which is two cents less than last week and one cent lower than a month ago. This decrease offers some relief to local motorists as the summer driving season begins.
The state average for gas prices is also $3.10, while the national average stands slightly higher at $3.12. According to AAA, gas prices typically rise during the summer months, but this year, drivers are seeing a slight reprieve.
In comparison, other states in the region have varied prices. For instance, Vermont's average is $3.06, New Jersey's is $2.98, and Delaware's is $2.88. The national trend shows fluctuating gas prices, with a decrease of 11.5% year over year as of May 15. Despite the recent drop, gas prices remain a concern for many consumers.
