A Greene County man, Joseph Szepessy, was arrested on Saturday (June 7) during the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The 34-year-old from Athens is accused of using a concealed cell phone to take inappropriate images under women's skirts.
According to the Saratoga Springs Police Department, Szepessy was caught after a witness alerted NYRA Security and on-site police officers. When confronted by concerned citizens, Szepessy allegedly became aggressive and attempted to choke one of the individuals who reported him. He was subsequently arrested by uniformed officers without further incident.
Szepessy faces multiple charges, including unlawful surveillance in the second degree, a Class E felony, as well as criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing, both Class A misdemeanors. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at Saratoga Springs City Court on Wednesday, June 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM.
