A 15-year-old boy from Albany was arrested on Tuesday (June 10) for possessing a loaded firearm. The arrest took place during a proactive investigation by the Albany County Sheriff's Community Oriented Policing Effort Unit in the area of Central Avenue and Lexington Avenue. The authorities discovered the teenager with a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson firearm. This incident follows a recent shooting involving a group of teens in the same area on Friday (June 6), where multiple shell casings were found.
According to CBS6 Albany, the teen has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony. He has been arraigned in Albany County Family Court.
