The New York State Attorney General's Office has released body camera footage from a fatal officer-involved shooting in Malta. The incident occurred in April at the Ellsworth apartment complex following a report of a domestic violence disturbance.

The video, recorded by a Saratoga County Sheriff's deputy, shows Brandon Moore, 37, emerging from his apartment and pointing what appeared to be a handgun at police. Law enforcement officers, including state troopers and deputies, shot and killed Moore, who was later found to be holding a highly realistic pellet gun. According to Times Union, the footage captures the moment Moore pointed the weapon at officers, leading to the shooting.

The incident followed nearly two hours of negotiation with Moore, who had barricaded himself inside the apartment. Two troopers sustained minor injuries during the response, and the alleged domestic violence victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries before police arrived.

The attorney general's office is conducting an investigation into the shooting. As part of this process, the release of body camera footage is standard. The investigation will determine whether the officers' actions were justified, with findings either presented to a grand jury or detailed in a public report. The building's sprinkler system was activated during the encounter, leaving the apartment complex temporarily uninhabitable.
