Police to Provide Update on Grafton Shooting Incident

State Police are set to release more details today about a shooting incident that occurred in Grafton on Wednesday (June 18). Troopers responded to a shots fired call at a home on South Road around 6:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed individual who was taken into custody after a brief standoff. A search of the residence revealed multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.

The police have not disclosed the number of victims or their conditions, but they have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. South Road, also known as County Route 85, remains closed between Johnson Road and Snyder Road for investigative purposes.

A press conference is scheduled to take place at 11:00 a.m. today at the State Police headquarters in Latham, New York. According to State Police, the investigation is ongoing, and more information will be provided during the briefing. Rensselaer County Sheriff Kyle Bourgault confirmed that deputies are assisting in the investigation.

Grafton Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum described the incident as a "tragedy" involving a long-time family in the town. The community awaits further details as authorities continue their investigation into the events that unfolded on Wednesday night.
