All patient services at Albany Memorial Campus are resuming today after a temporary suspension caused by an electrical failure. On Thursday (June 26), an electronic transfer switch malfunctioned during routine testing, affecting the hospital's backup generator and fire detection systems. This led to an evacuation and the diversion of the emergency department.
According to NEWS10 ABC, facility crews repaired the electrical issue by Thursday evening, allowing the emergency department to reopen at 9 p.m. St. Peter's Health Partners, which manages the hospital, confirmed that all outpatient services will resume their normal schedules today.
The disruption did not impact the medical office building located at 63 Shaker Road. Spectrum Local News reported that all appointments affected by the closure will be rescheduled.
The Times Union noted that the hospital had to transfer or discharge patients during the closure. Now, with services back on track, Albany Memorial is ready to serve its community once again.
