The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) is alerting drivers about ongoing overnight roadwork in Albany County, specifically in the Town of Colonie. Starting Monday (July 7), the ramp from State Route 9 to State Route 7 westbound and Interstate 87 southbound will be reduced to one lane. This lane closure is scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights and is expected to last until Thursday (August 7).
Drivers should prepare for potential delays and plan their travel schedules accordingly. The NYS DOT has noted that construction activities are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. For live traffic updates and further information, drivers can visit 511ny.org.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the work zones, as fines for speeding in these areas are doubled. Repeated violations could lead to the suspension of a driver's license. The NYS DOT encourages drivers to remain vigilant and prioritize safety while navigating through construction zones.
