Troy police swiftly arrested Stafon Farrell, 29, after a shooting incident on Sunday (July 6) evening in the Collar City. The shooting occurred at a residence on Sixth Avenue, where Farrell allegedly shot his 31-year-old brother during a family dispute. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and is in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to CBS6 Albany, police responded to reports of a disturbance just before 6 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the victim in a stairwell and provided emergency medical aid. Farrell was apprehended at a nearby store without incident, and the firearm involved was recovered at the scene.
The Times Union reports that Farrell has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Troy City Court and is currently held at the Rensselaer County Jail.
The police investigation will focus on the "isolated interaction" between the brothers that led to the shooting. Farrell's arrest highlights the swift response and collaboration of Troy's law enforcement to ensure public safety.
