In Halfmoon, Yvette Giovanni, 57, owner of A Time Four Paws, faces serious charges following an investigation into animal neglect at her dog day care facility. Saratoga County deputies charged Giovanni with two felonies after a French Bulldog named Gus died from heat exposure. The dog was allegedly left in the heat without access to cooling measures, leading to its death. This incident follows Giovanni's earlier misdemeanor charges for failing to provide food and water to 10 cats and 20 dogs under her care.

The investigation began when authorities executed a search warrant at the facility on Tuesday (July 8). They discovered malnourished animals in a room that reached 101 degrees, prompting immediate removal to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. According to the Times Union, the animals have since been returned to their owners.

On Wednesday (July 9), deputies conducted a second search after receiving a complaint about Gus's death. Giovanni was subsequently charged with second-degree criminal mischief and aggravated cruelty to animals. She was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and is currently held at the Saratoga County Jail.

The facility, located on Route Nine, has ceased operations under orders from local code enforcement. News10 ABC reports that Giovanni is expected to appear in court again soon.

As the case unfolds, the community remains concerned about animal welfare, urging vigilance and care in animal boarding facilities.
