Starting today (July 14), motorists in Clifton Park will face a road closure due to work on the railroad crossing at Wayto Lane and Ashdown Road. The closure will last through Friday (July 19), as announced by Clifton Park Highway Superintendent Dahn Bull in collaboration with the Genesee & Wyoming Railroad.

The project aims to improve the current crossing, enhancing traffic flow and reducing potential vehicle damage. Signs and detours have been set up to guide commuters, who are encouraged to remain patient during the improvements. The work is expected to take five days, weather permitting, and commuters should plan for necessary adjustments to their schedules.

According to Clifton Park's official website, the closure and detours will mirror those used during the 2021 replacement of the Ashdown Road Bridge. For additional information, residents can contact the Highway Department at (518) 371-7310.

The Daily Gazette reports that thunderstorms with heavy downpours are expected, which could affect the project timeline. Commuters are advised to follow designated detour routes to avoid traffic backups.
