An investigation is ongoing into a tragic accident that occurred on Tuesday (July 15) in Moreau, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. According to State Police, the incident happened at the intersection of Route 9 and Fawn Road, where a pedestrian was struck by a commercial vehicle traveling northbound on Route 9. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash prompted the closure of several roads around the area, including the northbound Exit 17 off-ramp from the Northway. The roads were reopened around 4:15 p.m., but the investigation into the cause of the accident continues. NEWS10 ABC reports that no charges have been filed yet, and authorities are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation.

As the investigation proceeds, State Police have urged commuters to seek alternate routes due to the ongoing collision reconstruction efforts at the scene. The authorities are focused on understanding the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident and ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
