Authorities in Saratoga County are investigating the death of a 77-year-old man found floating face down in Great Sacandaga Lake on Tuesday (July 15). The incident marks the third death in the lake in the past three weeks.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to an emergency call around 1:37 p.m. The man was discovered approximately 100 yards offshore from Ash Frasier Road in the town of Day, still wearing his life jacket. He had been sitting on the swim platform of his boat before being found in the water.

The man was transported to Saratoga Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.

News10 ABC reports that this incident follows two other recent fatalities in the lake: a 24-year-old who drowned on July 6 while attempting to help another person, and a 21-year-old involved in a jet ski and pontoon boat collision on June 23.

The sheriff's office has not yet released the identity of the deceased man, and further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
