No new measles cases have been reported after a Vermont resident, who recently traveled internationally, visited Saratoga Hospital and Albany Medical Center. The individual, who was masked during their visit, was later confirmed to have measles. According to the New York State Department of Health, contact tracing is ongoing, and those who were at the hospitals during the exposure period have been notified.

The Vermont resident sought treatment at Saratoga Hospital on July 14 and Albany Medical Center on July 16. Both hospitals implemented measures to prevent further exposure, including a mask mandate at Saratoga Hospital. Dr. Jason Mouzakes, Executive Vice President of Albany Medical Center, stated that the patient was isolated immediately upon arrival.

Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease that can cause serious complications. The New York State Health Commissioner, Dr. James McDonald, emphasized the importance of vaccination, urging residents to ensure they are up-to-date with the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Saratoga Hospital plans to reassess its masking policy on Tuesday (July 22).
