An Albany woman, Kinyetta Gordon, 38, has been indicted on charges of attempted murder and assault following a stabbing incident that occurred on July 19. According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, Gordon pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The incident took place near Lexington Avenue and First Street, where Albany Police responded to reports of a stabbing around 4:55 a.m. Officers initially found evidence of a stabbing but no victim at the scene. Shortly after, a 36-year-old woman arrived at Albany Memorial Hospital with significant stab wounds to her neck and back. She was stabilized and transferred to Albany Medical Center, where she remains in critical but stable condition, as reported by NEWS10 ABC.

Gordon was apprehended at Albany Medical Center while receiving treatment for a hand injury. Police determined that she and the victim, who were acquainted, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into violence. A second individual sustained a hand injury while attempting to intervene in the altercation, according to CBS6 Albany.

Gordon was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. On Tuesday, an Albany County Grand Jury returned an indictment formally charging her with attempted murder and assault in both the first and second degrees. She was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility, as reported by Times Union.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Unit. Gordon remains in custody as she awaits further legal proceedings.
