The first Bass Pro Shops in the region opens today in Clifton Park, located on Clifton Park Center Road. The grand opening ceremony begins at 5 p.m. and will feature a performance by country singer Blaine Holcomb. Guests can enter the store after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m.
Town officials anticipate heavy traffic around the Clifton Park Center Mall area throughout the day and evening. To manage the expected congestion, alternative travel routes have been recommended. From I-87 Southbound, drivers can turn left onto Clifton Country Road from NYS Route 146, or proceed westbound on NYS Route 146 to Moe Road. From I-87 Northbound, other routes are also suggested to help with traffic flow.
According to CBS6 Albany, the traffic is expected to peak between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Parking attendants and signage will be present to assist visitors.
In celebration of the opening, 20 percent of every dollar spent on most items will be donated to local conservation organizations. The event, called "Evening of Conservation," aims to support environmental efforts in the area.
