NYSP Probes Officer-Involved Shooting in Cohoes

The New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Cohoes. According to News10 ABC, the incident occurred near Main Street on Wednesday morning (August 6). A large police presence was reported in the area, with officers in heavy tactical gear at the corner of Main and Schuyler Streets.

The NYSP Special Operations Response Team was called to assist the Cohoes Police Department around 7:40 a.m. During the incident, an individual inside a building reportedly fired at state police officers, who then returned fire. Fortunately, no NYSP members were injured, and authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The investigation is still active, and officials have promised to provide updates as more information becomes available. The incident has resulted in a portion of Main Street being closed to the public.
