In Watervliet, the parents of nine-year-old Nathalia Warner face charges following her tragic death. Nathalia was rushed to Samaritan Hospital on Saturday (August 2) but did not survive. An autopsy conducted by Dr. Kristen Landi at Albany Medical Center revealed that Nathalia died from chronic constipation, with the manner of death ruled as natural causes, according to New York State Police.
Despite the natural cause of death, Nathalia's parents, Jennifer Singleton, 37, and Harold Warner, 33, have been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from an investigation into the living conditions at their residence, which they shared with Nathalia and another child. The couple was processed at SP Latham and released on appearance tickets, as reported by CBS6 Albany.
The charges are reportedly related to the parents' failure to provide proper care for Nathalia's illness, which Singleton described as "lifelong health issues." The parents are scheduled to appear in Watervliet City Court on August 19. A vigil was held on Monday (August 4) to honor Nathalia's memory, where her parents expressed their grief, with Singleton stating, "the world lost a beautiful soul," and Warner calling her "everybody’s little perfect angel," according to WNYT.
