The New York Racing Association (NYRA) is honoring veterans and active-duty service members today at the Saratoga Race Course with Military Appreciation Day. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the first race is scheduled for 1 p.m. Veterans and service members will receive free admission with a military ID, and complimentary tickets are available through VetTix.org.

The event, presented by Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, includes a special ceremony in the Winner’s Circle and a lineup of activities to honor those who have served. The day’s fifth race is named in tribute to all veterans and active-duty service members. Special recognition will be given to representatives from various military branches, including 98-year-old World War II veteran Lou Bacchi and 88-year-old Korean War veteran Abram Seeberger.

The event will also highlight organizations like Operation At Ease, which pairs shelter dogs with veterans and first responders. The day begins with the National Anthem performed by Staff Sgt. Frankie Aisporna from West Point, and the 42nd Infantry Division Brass Quintet will perform trackside. A working replica of a 1777 Saratoga Campaign cannon will be on display, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Henry Knox Noble Train of Artillery.

NYRA President and CEO David O’Rourke stated, "NYRA is honored to pay tribute to our courageous veterans and active-duty service members on Military Appreciation Day." For more details, visit NYRA's website.
