A pedestrian was tragically killed after being hit by a vehicle on the New York State Thruway in Rotterdam on Saturday night (August 23). According to the New York State Police, the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes near Exit 25.
The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the accident, all westbound lanes were closed for investigation and collision reconstruction until approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 24), after which they were reopened.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet announced whether any charges will be filed. NEWS10 ABC reports that the investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
