Authorities are investigating the deaths of 21 dogs at Anastasia's Acres Dog Boarding in Argyle. The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the facility on Sunday (August 24) after receiving reports of deceased dogs. Deputies found 21 dogs dead, while one dog survived and received treatment at a local animal clinic.

The cause of the deaths remains unclear, but initial reports suggest a potential failure in the facility's ventilation system. Leah Brown, a dog owner, mentioned that investigators informed her about the ventilation issue, although this has not been officially confirmed by authorities. The owners of Anastasia's Acres are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

The tragic incident has left many pet owners devastated. Hannah Elmore, a 12-year-old whose dog Piglet was among the deceased, shared her heartbreak upon learning the news. "My dad told us that [Piglet] had passed, and I just broke down immediately," Elmore said, according to CBS 6 Albany.

The facility, which has been in operation since 2020, offers boarding, daycare, training, grooming, and home care services. It has temporarily closed its doors until further notice, as stated on its social media accounts. The Washington County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information to contact them at 518-747-4623.
