A man from Rhinebeck, New York, Gerson Josue Santamaría Turcios, is currently in custody in Orange County after being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Previously, Santamaría Turcios was transferred to Louisiana, but he has since returned to the local area.

According to ICE, Santamaría Turcios, a Honduran immigrant, admitted to entering the United States illegally through Texas. Despite this admission, his attorneys are actively working to secure his release. For now, he has been granted a stay while his legal case continues.

The case highlights ongoing immigration issues, particularly regarding individuals who enter the U.S. without legal documentation. As Santamaría Turcios's legal proceedings unfold, his attorneys continue to advocate for his release from custody.
