In Argyle, the owners of Anastasia's Acres Dog Boarding, Robert and Anastasia Palulis, are facing charges after the deaths of 21 dogs at their facility. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the couple failed to provide adequate water and ventilation, leading to the tragic incident. The facility, which had been serving the Capital Region since 2020, is now under investigation.

The authorities discovered the deceased animals on Sunday (August 24) after receiving a report about the situation. One dog survived and was taken to an emergency animal clinic for treatment. The owners have been charged with 22 misdemeanor counts under New York’s Agriculture and Markets Law, which includes overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, as well as failure to provide proper sustenance.

The Daily Gazette reports that the Palulises have been cooperating with the investigation and were released on appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in Argyle Town Court at a later date.

The sheriff's office is urging anyone with information regarding the case to contact them. This incident highlights the importance of proper care and safety measures in animal boarding facilities to prevent such tragedies in the future.
