Albany Bishop Edward Scharfenberger is urging the community to pray following a tragic school shooting in Minneapolis. On Wednesday (August 27), a gunman opened fire through the windows of a Catholic school, killing two children and injuring over a dozen others. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Bishop Scharfenberger expressed his sorrow, stating that there are no words to comfort those who lost children while they were praying. The shooting occurred during the first week of school, adding to the community's shock and grief.

According to CBS6 Albany, Westman allegedly wrote a manifesto and identified as transgender. This incident marks the second shooting in Minneapolis in just two days, highlighting a concerning trend of violence in the area.

The Minneapolis Police Department is actively investigating the shooting, and there is a significant police presence at the scene. As the community grapples with this tragedy, Bishop Scharfenberger's call for prayer seeks to bring people together in a time of mourning and healing.

Anyone who needs to talk can call 800-273-8255 no matter the time of day.
