A donation drive is taking place today to support those affected by a recent apartment fire in Clifton Par. Hosted by Next Generation Roofing, the event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1860 Route Nine in Halfmoon. Essential items such as toiletries, blankets, food, and water are in high demand.
The fire occurred on Saturday night at London Square Apartments and is suspected to have been caused by careless smoking. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but 11 apartment units were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the affected residents.
The Clifton Park Fire Department responded to the blaze, battling thick smoke and intense flames. Residents were advised to avoid the area as emergency crews worked to contain the situation. According to WNYT, the fire prompted a power outage alert from National Grid in the vicinity.
The community's response through the donation drive aims to provide immediate relief to those impacted by the fire.
